About The Position

The Operations Manager of Central Processing will direct the integrated logistics and services for decontamination, instrument and set assembly, sterilization, and case cart picking for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. This individual will lead a team of supervisors and develop CPD technician staff across a three-shift operation at specific site locations within the CHOP enterprise. He/she is responsible for the effective use of materials, personnel, and resources to produce quality results and positive outcomes in patient care while driving efficiency, productivity, and standardization. The Operations Manager will collaborate with staff and leadership throughout the enterprise at our Philadelphia to develop and implement the agreed upon strategies for the department and provide consultative services to network representation as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED Required
  • At least five (5) years progressive management experience with leadership experience in a complex healthcare environment. Required
  • Familiar with SPM Microsystems or equivalent system (Required proficiency)
  • Must be able to work in a labor management partnership environment (Required proficiency)
  • Proficient in the use of standard office software such as Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc (Required proficiency)
  • Consistently demonstrates the knowledge, skills/abilities and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to our team members, customers, contracted providers, and vendors (Required proficiency)
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association - upon hire - Required

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with CPD leadership to develop specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization
  • Ensures clear channels of communication with staff exist in order to address concerns in an expeditious manner
  • Monitors and assesses the department's quality assurance, safety, environmental, infection control, performance improvement, and regulatory programs to ensure compliance and consistency in sterilization policies and procedures.
  • Develops plans in conjunction with CPD leadership to mitigate safety risks
  • Develops and prepares internal performance measures focused on measuring, improving, and maintaining the highest quality sterile processing department
  • Participates in the development of comprehensive and thorough orientation and training program for departmental staff.
  • Stays current with new sterile processing programs and techniques and provides in-services and training for staff, including standards to measure learning and assimilation
  • Mentors direct reports and provides ongoing development opportunities
  • Directs and coordinates staff in the sterilization and distribution functions of the sterile processing department.
  • Prioritizes and manages team members work assignments so that all work is completed on time with optimal results and so productivity measures are achieved
  • Participates in work groups and committees related to sterile processing and proactively identifies opportunities to improve service
  • Conducts regular service rounds to determine effectiveness and overall satisfaction of services provided.
  • Seeks out information from customers using formal and informal methods.
  • Creates a system to collect regular and timely feedback on services rendered.
  • Provides feedback to staff and arranges for coaching/training & education as needed.
  • Trends data and demonstrates upward movement of quality practices in CPD.
  • Creates custom reports to achieve a managerially efficient format for information to be utilized by the CPD Management Team, customers and enterprise
  • Key contributor on process improvement initiatives including implementing organizational change, data management, process mapping, and communications
  • Identifies and implements improvements using CHOP approved PI methodologies
  • Become a subject matter expert in the use of SPM and ways to best optimize the technology
  • Acts as a resource and encourages staff in the utilization of PC software to increase productivity, improve analytical effectiveness and insure professional presentation of sterile processing information
