The Multnomah County Circuit Court is hiring a High-Volume Courtroom Clerk. In this role, you will support a judge in a courtroom by performing real-time data entry and understanding the docket to respond to questions from the judge, other court staff, and court participants. The High-Volume Clerks unit handles a variety of case types including criminal, traffic, parking, domestic relations, stalking, small claims, and landlord/tenant. Responsibilities include reviewing case files, preparing court forms, handling exhibits, operating recording systems, completing forms, managing virtual appearances, and assisting the judge in managing the docket flow. Accuracy in data entry and attention to detail are crucial. Post-docket duties involve auditing work, ensuring data entry accuracy, scheduling hearings, recalling warrants, routing paperwork, suspending or clearing driver's license suspensions, generating judgments, and issuing show-cause actions. When not in the courtroom, you will provide administrative support, including complex data entry, processing court documents, verifying virtual court recordings, maintaining calendars, scheduling hearings, and entering dispositions and sentences. You will also compose correspondence and legal documents, and review them for accuracy. Additional duties include maintaining tracking databases, arranging for court interpreters, serving as a technical resource, and providing customer service to judges, court staff, lawyers, litigants, partner agencies, and the public. This includes checking in parties, verifying contact information, responding to emails, and working at the reception desk. As a member of the High-Volume Clerks team, you may also be required to train new employees. Assigned tasks may be adjusted based on workload and organizational needs.
