Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least three (3) years of responsible experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to three (3) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
  • Experience performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks with strict deadlines in a busy business or professional setting.
  • Experience using a variety of software programs to access and input information and complete various tasks.
  • Skill responding tactfully and professionally to customers or clients who are facing challenging life circumstances, highly stressful situations, or trauma.
  • Skill in writing and reviewing documents for accuracy, content, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Experience identifying, handling, and securing confidential information and materials.
  • Must be able to complete the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's I-9 form confirming authorization to work in the United States within three days of hire.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and will be verified by E-Verify.

Responsibilities

  • Support a judge in a courtroom by performing real-time data entry.
  • Know your docket inside and out to respond to questions from the judge, other court staff, and court participants.
  • Review case files prior to and during the assigned docket.
  • Prepare court forms and make note of any pertinent information related to each case.
  • Handle exhibits during the docket.
  • Run recording systems during the docket.
  • Complete forms during the docket.
  • Manage virtual appearances during the docket.
  • Help the judge manage the flow of the docket.
  • Audit your work after the docket to ensure all data entry was completed with 100% accuracy.
  • Schedule hearings, recall warrants, route paperwork, suspend or clear drivers’ license suspensions, generate judgments, and issue show-cause actions when appropriate.
  • Provide administrative support in partnership with other court staff when not in the courtroom.
  • Perform complex data entry.
  • Process documents filed with the court.
  • Download and verify virtual court recordings.
  • Maintain multiple calendars.
  • Enter dispositions and sentences.
  • Compose letters, prepare correspondence and legal documents.
  • Review documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain and contribute to tracking databases.
  • Arrange for court interpreters.
  • Serve as a technical resource for colleagues.
  • Provide customer service to judges, court staff, lawyers, litigants, partner agencies, and the public.
  • Check in parties for court.
  • Verify parties’ contact information.
  • Respond to emails.
  • Work at the reception desk.
  • Train new employees as needed.
