About The Position

Courtesy Clerks support the Hy-Vee customer experience by assisting customers from the register to their vehicles and helping keep the store clean, stocked, and welcoming. The role involves packaging purchases, providing customer assistance, maintaining merchandise and store areas, and helping wherever needed. The position requires staying active, working as part of a team, and maintaining customer-service and store standards. No education or experience is required; training is provided. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and complete tasks involving a few concrete variables.
Perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions.
Communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Work effectively as part of a team.
No education or prior experience is required; training is provided.
Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas.
Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, point-of-sale transactions, and cleaning and sanitation duties.
Complete a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly customer service, greet customers, learn their names, and help make each visit a positive experience.
Package customer purchases and help customers transport them to their vehicles or other transportation.
Bring carts in from the parking lot and cart corrals throughout the shift.
Clean registers, restrooms, the break room, and the backroom; sweep and mop floors as needed.
Clean the can redemption area and empty recycling bins where applicable.
Stock, face, and rotate merchandise; clean shelves; understand shelf tags; and know where merchandise is located in the store and backroom.
Pull products forward on shelves to maintain a full, organized appearance.
Check product prices as needed.
Maintain front-end supplies, including paper and plastic bags, receipt paper, and other necessary items.
Help train new courtesy clerks.
Deliver products to customers and assist in other departments as requested within wage and hour guidelines.
Shovel, salt, and sand walkways as needed.
Work with co-workers as a team to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Assist in other areas of the store and take on special projects as assigned.
Maintain personal hygiene and dress standards and follow Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
