About The Position

Courtesy Clerks are an essential part of the Hy-Vee experience, helping customers from the register to their cars and keeping the store clean, stocked, and welcoming. The role involves packaging purchases, assisting customers, maintaining the store, and helping wherever needed. It is suited to someone who enjoys staying active, helping people, and taking pride in a clean and welcoming store. Training is provided; no education or prior experience is required.

Requirements

Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks involving a few concrete variables.
Perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions, and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Work effectively as part of a team.
Complete a pre-employment drug screen successfully as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly customer service and greet customers warmly.
Package customer purchases and assist customers in transporting them to their mode of transportation.
Bring carts in from the parking lot and cart corrals throughout the shift.
Clean registers, restrooms, the break room, and the backroom; sweep and mop floors as needed.
Clean the can redemption area and empty recycle bins where applicable.
Stock, face, and rotate merchandise; clean shelves; understand shelf tags; and know merchandise locations in the store and backroom.
Pull products forward on shelves to maintain a full, organized appearance.
Check product prices as needed.
Maintain front-end supplies, including bags and receipt paper.
Help train new courtesy clerks.
Deliver products to customers and assist in all departments as requested within wage and hour guidelines.
Shovel, salt, and sand walkways as needed.
Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Assist in other store areas as needed and take on special projects as assigned.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
