About The Position

Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. The Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger bags groceries at checkout, helps customers with merchandise and loading bags into their cars, maintains store and parking-lot cleanliness, returns merchandise and gathers carts, and supports basic shelf conditioning and seasonal merchandise setup. The role also includes helping customers find products, sharing information about grocery specials, performing price checks, following food-safety and safety procedures, and reporting unsafe conditions or equipment needing repair. The associate is expected to provide welcoming, helpful customer service; work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment; manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively; handle customer and business information honestly; follow directions and seek assistance when needed; and support minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults through direct interaction. The essential functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

Bag customers’ groceries at checkout, aiming to place at least five items in each bag while preventing damage and following best practices for reusable, plastic, and paper bags.
Assist with removing customers’ merchandise from the bottom of the bascart for checkout.
Offer to help customers load bags into their cars.
Perform basic shelf conditioning.
Inform customers of grocery specials.
Return merchandise to store shelves.
Gather bascarts and return them to designated areas.
Clean spills and collect and pick up trash inside the store and in the parking lot.
Clean all areas inside and outside the store.
Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise.
Learn the store layout, locate products, and conduct price checks for cashiers.
Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues, and notify store management.
Follow food-safety regulations and guidelines.
Inspect equipment as part of preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager about items needing repair.
Answer customer questions about products in the department and throughout the store, helping customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated.
Follow local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment; manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively.
Handle customer and business information honestly and with integrity.
Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve customer and business issues.
Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
