About The Position

The Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger bags groceries, assists customers with their merchandise and loading bags into their cars, maintains and cleans areas inside and outside the store, and supports store operations by returning merchandise, gathering carts, conditioning shelves, sharing grocery specials, locating products, and conducting price checks. The role also includes handling seasonal merchandise, following safety and food-safety procedures, inspecting equipment, and reporting unsafe conditions or equipment needing repair. The associate helps create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions and providing direct support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults. They must follow applicable laws and company guidelines, work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment, manage conflict constructively, handle customer and business information honestly, and follow directions or seek assistance as needed. Essential functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

Bag groceries at checkout, striving to place at least five items in each bag while preventing damage.
Follow best practices when bagging items in reusable, plastic, and paper bags.
Assist with removing customers' merchandise from the bottom of the bascart for checkout.
Offer to help customers load bags into their cars.
Perform basic shelf conditioning.
Inform customers about grocery specials.
Return merchandise to store shelves.
Gather bascarts and return them to designated areas.
Clean spills and collect and pick up trash inside the store and in the parking lot.
Clean all areas inside and outside the store.
Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise.
Learn the store layout, locate products, and conduct price checks for cashiers.
Follow safety procedures and report unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues to store management.
Follow food safety regulations and guidelines.
Inspect equipment as part of preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager of items needing repair.
Answer customer questions about products and help customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated.
Follow local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
Manage conflict reasonably, nonconfrontationally, and cooperatively.
