Responsibilities
- Bag groceries at checkout, aiming for at least five items per bag while avoiding damage and following best practices for reusable, plastic, and paper bags.
- Assist with removing customers' merchandise from the bottom of the bascart for checkout.
- Offer to help customers load bags into their cars.
- Perform basic shelf conditioning and inform customers of grocery specials.
- Return merchandise to store shelves.
- Gather bascarts and return them to designated areas.
- Clean spills, collect and pick up trash inside the store and in the parking lot, and clean store areas inside and outside.
- Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise.
- Learn the store layout, locate products, and conduct price checks for cashiers.
- Reinforce safety programs by following safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues, and notifying store management.
- Follow food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Inspect equipment as part of preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager about items needing repair.
- Welcome customers and answer questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store.
- Follow applicable local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
- Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment and manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively.
- Handle customer and business information honestly and with integrity.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve customer and business issues.
- Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
