About The Position

Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. The Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger bags groceries at checkout, helps customers with their merchandise and loading, maintains store and parking-lot cleanliness, and supports store operations by returning merchandise, gathering carts, conditioning shelves, and assisting customers with product questions and price checks. The role also involves following safety, food safety, maintenance, legal, and company guidelines; working cooperatively in a fast-paced environment; and providing support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults. The essential functions must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

Bag groceries at checkout, striving to place at least five items in each bag without damaging merchandise and following best practices for reusable, plastic, and paper bags.
Assist with removing customers’ merchandise from the bottom of the bascart for checkout.
Offer to help customers load bags into their cars.
Perform basic shelf conditioning.
Inform customers of grocery specials.
Return merchandise to store shelves.
Gather bascarts and return them to designated areas.
Clean spills and collect and pick up trash inside the store and in the parking lot.
Clean all areas inside and outside the store.
Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise.
Learn the store layout, locate products, and conduct price checks for cashiers.
Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues, and notify store management.
Follow food safety regulations and guidelines.
Inspect equipment as part of preventive maintenance and notify the appropriate department or store manager of items needing repair.
Answer customers’ questions about products sold in the department and throughout the store, helping create a welcoming environment.
Comply with applicable local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment, and manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively.
Handle customer and business information honestly and with integrity.
Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
Provide direct support and assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
