About The Position

The Court Services Officer I position involves communication and interaction with adult offenders under the court’s jurisdiction and with other concerned parties in the investigation and preparation of reports for the court. The role assists offenders in understanding and meeting court-ordered requirements and identifying needs and appropriate resources. A Court Services Officer (CSO) prepares various reports, including those related to the transfer of supervision, case reports, violation reports, and risk assessments (LSIR, LSCMI, WRNA, SASSI). The position also involves working closely with community resource agencies. Work is performed independently or in teams under the general direction of a senior Court Services Officer and is reviewed through staffing, reports, and caseload audits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a social services field (such as psychology, sociology, social work, criminal justice, corrections) from an accredited university.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Pass a name-based criminal history check.
  • Pass a fingerprint-based criminal history check within the first thirty days of employment.

  • Knowledge of best practices in probation/pretrial supervision.
  • Familiarity working with justice-involved clients experiencing trauma, mental health, and/or substance use.
  • A minimum of one year experience in one or more of the following within the past five years: Conducting interviews, Writing formal reports, Working with justice-involved individuals, Working with clients with substance abuse and/or mental health issues.

Responsibilities
