About The Position

The Court Services Officer I position involves the supervision of adult and juvenile offenders placed on probation and pre-trial bond supervision by the District Court, as well as Child in Need of Care cases assigned by the District Court. The role requires preparing presentence and predisposition reports, and other court reports as requested. It involves communication and interaction with offenders and other relevant parties for investigation and report preparation. The officer will identify offender needs and risks, and refer them to appropriate community resources. Maintaining chronological records of client contacts and caseloads is essential. The position also requires preparing reports related to supervision transfers, progress, and violations, and working closely with law enforcement and other community agencies. Certification in LSCMI, WRNA, YLS, and EPICS must be obtained within 12 months of employment.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Preferred major course work in corrections, counseling, criminology, psychology, social work, sociology or a closely related field.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must submit to a name based criminal background check and have no disqualifying convictions.
  • Must not be registered on a child abuse or adult abuse registry in any state.
  • Must submit to and pass a urinalysis test prior to employment.
  • If employed, the new employee is required to pass a fingerprint-based background check.

Responsibilities
