About The Position

Hennepin County District Court invites qualified applicants for one Court Operations Supervisor position in the Downtown Minneapolis Criminal Division. The Court Operations Supervisor leads the day-to-day operations of the Criminal Division: planning, supervising and reviewing the functions and daily operations of personnel; establishing workloads and schedules; analyzing and streamlining work processes; assisting in the development of strategic goals and overseeing implementation at the divisional level; and working with the public, judges, court staff, partnering criminal justice departments and county or state agencies to ensure that records are processed in a timely and accurate manner that is consistent with the Court's mission and vision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of experience as a supervisor, Court Clerk Leadworker, Court Operations Specialist, Court Operations Associate, or equivalent work in a court, legal setting, or other fast-paced, high-volume, and technology-dependent environment
  • Access to a reliable internet connection is required when working remotely
  • Ability to train, motivate, coach, and supervise support personnel
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others as a team member
  • Skilled in critical thinking, problem solving, conflict resolution, and excellent customer service
  • Ability to be self-directed, organized, adaptable, and work independently with minimal direct supervision
  • Ability to analyze problems, put effective changes into practice, and ensure compliance
  • Considerable knowledge and experience planning and implementing projects, initiatives, and tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to express ideas concisely and clearly, both orally and in writing

Nice To Haves

  • Paralegal, Associate, or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Political Science, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Experience working in the Hennepin County Criminal Division
  • General understanding of principles and practices of court proceedings, applicable statutes and rules, and records management
  • Knowledge and experience working with electronic filing (eFile and eService) the Minnesota Case Management System (MNCIS), SharePoint, Application Extender (AX), and other eCourt technologies
  • Knowledge and/or experience of effective supervisory and management techniques including team building and planning and/or supervising the work of others
  • Experience researching and analyzing problems, putting effective changes into practice, measuring performance and ensuring compliance

Responsibilities

  • Delegate workloads and schedules using teamwork strategies to achieve divisional and organizational objectives
  • Select, coach, mentor, direct, and evaluate the performance of staff according to set standards and expectations; act as an effective role model to staff in all areas; assist in developing orientation, training programs, and reference documentation for employees
  • Implement and monitor compliance of both new and revised policies and procedures, as well as the processing of all legal documents in the division
  • Oversee all case processing and recommend improvements to ensure time standards, statutory guidelines, and case updating standards of the court are met
  • Utilize collaborative communication techniques to respond to and manage day-to-day issues brought by judicial officers, staff, customers, and related county and/or state agencies; answer inquiries relative to the policy, practice, and procedures of the court
