Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least three (3) or more years of responsible experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to three (3) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
  • Experience performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks with strict deadlines in a busy business or professional setting.
  • Experience using a variety of software programs to access and input information and complete various tasks.
  • Experience providing customer service to a variety of individuals in challenging circumstances.
  • Experience explaining processes, procedures, or policies on behalf of an employer.
  • Experience and skill in writing and reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Process documents and case files for civil filings.
  • Open new cases in the electronic case management system.
  • Process a variety of documents, including motions, orders, judgments, garnishments, bankruptcy notices, and driver’s license suspensions and reinstatements, and route them to the appropriate judge or department.
  • Review paperwork for accuracy and completeness and work with other court staff to make corrections and resolve issues.
  • Answer multiline phones and help customers at the public counter.
  • Process the mail, scan documents, and make copies.
  • Perform courtroom duties associated with landlord/tenant cases, including managing parties before proceedings and reviewing legal documents.
  • Process orders and judgments for arbitration cases.
  • Maintain a database of available arbitrators, assign arbitrators to cases, and monitor reports and deadlines.
  • Provide backup coverage within the Civil unit.
