About The Position

District Court 39, Cleveland County, is seeking a qualified individual to perform a variety of case management functions for District Court, and the Chief District Court Judge and to manage the office in the absence of the judge.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of case management and calendaring rules and procedures to administer the case tracking and calendaring system.
  • Knowledge of court system and organization to effectively interact with court officials.
  • Knowledge of court procedures and legal terminology to communicate with court officials and law enforcement personnel.
  • Interpersonal skills to work with court personnel and the general public.
  • Organizational skills to monitor case activity and prepare court calendars.
  • Knowledge of principles of management related to the supervision of staff.
  • Skills in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, WebEx, and Casewise.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use office automation equipment to prepare legal documents and maintain the case tracking system.
  • Ability to summarize, compile, and tabulate narrative and numerical material, analyze and record information, and balance figures.
  • Ability to learn specific laws, rules and regulations relating to the court system and programs.
  • Ability to be resourceful in gathering information and in answering unusual inquiries and questions.
  • Ability to compose correspondence independently following established guidelines.
  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in court administration, criminal justice, public administration, business, or a related field, and two years of progressive experience in the court system to acquire the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work described; or a master's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop case management procedures; and track status of cases.
  • Resolve Scheduling Conflicts.
  • Prepare and distribute calendars.
  • Assist judges in drafting and preparing orders.
  • Track case filing and disposition data.
  • Prepare reports & various legal documents.
  • Prepare a variety of materials including correspondence.
  • Coordinate foreign language interpreter services.
  • Ensure office supplies/equipment are ordered/maintained.
  • Interact with the public/attorneys; Answer phone calls/emails.
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings.
  • Arbitration Coordinator.
  • Provide daily administrative support to the District Court Judges.
