About The Position

Henry Ford Behavioral Health Hospital is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Court Liaison to join our team. The Court Liaison is responsible for coordinating clinically indicated services between the hospital and the court system for individuals receiving court-ordered services. This role involves preparing and submitting legal documentation, communicating court outcomes, coordinating court hearings and evaluations, collaborating with court personnel, compiling patient records, monitoring patient court status, and ensuring timely and accurate documentation. Requirements

  • CPR certification and de-escalation/restraint training required (Training will be provided upon hire by the facility)
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two or more years’ of related experience required.
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or health field preferred.
  • Understanding of court/criminal justice system and structure preferred.
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and submit petitions, notices, affidavits/certificates of service and denial rights motions with the court on behalf of the patient and the facility.
  • Provide all relevant information from the court hearing to the appropriate department at the facility.
  • Compile, maintain and track the mental health court appearances and evaluation appointments for all patients admitted to the facility on an involuntary basis.
  • Communicate effectively with court clerks, court-appointed doctors, public defenders and various court personnel in order to coordinate and deliver correct patient information for hearings and evaluations.
  • Assemble chart materials for mental health court evaluations and hearings to provide evidence for each patient’s hold.
  • Communicate patient court progression with appropriate departments at the facility.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of relevant activities.
  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
