About The Position

Henry Ford Behavioral Health Hospital is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Court Liaison to join our team. The Court Liaison is responsible for coordinating clinically indicated services between the hospital and the court system for individuals receiving court-ordered services. Henry Ford Behavioral Health Hospital expands access to high-quality psychiatric care and supports the growing mental health needs of the Greater Detroit Metro area. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two or more years’ of related experience required.
  • CPR certification and de-escalation/restraint training required (Training will be provided upon hire by the facility)
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or health field preferred.
  • Understanding of court/criminal justice system and structure preferred.
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit required legal documentation on behalf of patients and the facility
  • Communicate court outcomes and updates to internal teams
  • Coordinate and track court hearings and evaluations for involuntary patients
  • Collaborate with court personnel (clerks, physicians, public defenders, etc.)
  • Compile and organize patient records for court proceedings
  • Monitor and report patient court status
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation
  • Draft and submit petitions, notices, affidavits/certificates of service and denial rights motions with the court on behalf of the patient and the facility.
  • Provide all relevant information from the court hearing to the appropriate department at the facility.
  • Compile, maintain and track the mental health court appearances and evaluation appointments for all patients admitted to the facility on an involuntary basis.
  • Communicate effectively with court clerks, court-appointed doctors, public defenders and various court personnel in order to coordinate and deliver correct patient information for hearings and evaluations.
  • Assemble chart materials for mental health court evaluations and hearings to provide evidence for each patient’s hold.
  • Communicate patient court progression with appropriate departments at the facility.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of relevant activities.
  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.
