About The Position

The Oregon Judicial Department (OJD) serves the public, and the people we serve may be facing challenging life circumstances, high levels of stress, or confusion about their next steps. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least three (3) years of clerical experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to three (3) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
  • Experience performing a variety of clerical or administrative support tasks with strict deadlines in a busy business or professional setting.
  • Experience using a variety of software programs to access and input information and complete various tasks.
  • Experience providing customer service to a variety of individuals in challenging circumstances.
  • Experience explaining processes, procedures, policies, or rules.
  • Experience and skill in writing and reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ability to start the process of CJIS clearance within the first week of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Help self-represented litigants navigate court case issues and complete their legal documents.
  • Provide an overview of court forms and processes, explain next steps and expected timelines.
  • Perform child support calculations.
  • Help litigants and attorneys use the court system.
  • Provide educational materials and information about available resources as needed.
  • Prepare judgments and orders.
  • Perform data entry, scan documents, docket, and schedule cases.
  • Help create and maintain forms packets, brochures, and literature for family law matters.
  • Prepare a variety of statistical and informational reports.
  • Consult with judges, partner with various departments, external agencies, and community organizations.
  • Help the Southern Oregon Facilitation Initiative and the local Family Law Advisory Council.
  • Participate in local and statewide committees, coalitions, and work groups.
  • Create and facilitate training for internal and external stakeholders.
