SALARY RANGE: $39,511.00 - $57,438.00 District Court 24, serving Guilford County, seeks a qualified candidate to perform a variety of secretarial and administrative tasks for the Chief District Court Judge and other District Court judges in the 24th judicial district.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of: court rules and procedures; general office procedures; grammar and punctuation; word processing; commonly used rules, procedures, or methods, to perform assignments.
  • Skills in: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to: screen communications and based on content, handle independently or route to proper destination; apply grammar and punctuation rules; type with accuracy and speed; spell accurately; use judgment in organizing and establishing document format; give basic information and instructions regarding programs or office based on inquires; operate office equipment such as copier, calculator, fax machine, computer, and telephones.
  • Graduation from high school and two (2) years of experience as a legal secretary or paralegal; or an associate degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Attach cover letter and résumé.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing all Civil calendars for Guilford County (Divorce, Domestic Violence, Trials, Motions, Pre-trial, EQUD).
  • Handle FFS (Family Financial Settlement) tracking and scheduling.
  • Arbitration.
  • Issue permits to allow for cell phones and electronic devices inside the courthouse.
  • Attend court sessions.
  • Serve as the liaison between the judicial office and internal and external agencies.
  • Field all requests for disability accommodations for the High Point Division.
  • Fields media requests.
  • Responding to email inquiries from attorneys and other court professionals.
  • Serve as administrative professional to Chief Judge.
  • Retrieve and distribute daily mail from the Clerk's Office.
  • Answer telephone calls.
  • Respond to Jurors who makes their request via letter US Mail they will notify via letter US Mail or if print out from the I-Juror computer.
