About The Position

The Administrative Assistant will be responsible to provide administrative support of functions and operations of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Court.

Requirements

  • Two (2) year degree in Business Administration, Management, Accounting, Office Systems. In lieu of minimum education requirement will consider, High School/GED with four (4) years of experience in office related field.
  • Effectively operate office equipment (copy, fax, printer, scanner and telephones).
  • Strong computer skills with effective knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; understand and carry out both verbal and written instructions and request clarification when needed.
  • Solid customer service skills; maintain tact, courtesy, composure and flexibility when dealing with a variety of personalities.
  • Pass appropriate background check with no felony convictions.
  • Comply with the Tribal Code of Justice and Code of Ethics as established by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Court.
  • Demonstrate strong work ethic and organizational skills with special attention to detail.
  • Must sign a confidentiality statement and understand the penalties for any violations.
  • Serve as delegate authority in the absence of the Tribal Court Administrator.
  • Knowledge of automated software applications as implemented.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely; understand instructions in written and verbal forms.
  • Ability to assemble sorts and/or distributes documents, supplies and/or materials/items as requested.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to arrange, coordinate or schedule meetings and appointments.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains cuff accounts and conduct reconciliation of program expenditures.
  • Prepares purchase order requisitions for Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Court expenses.
  • Assist in preparation of staff time and attendance records.
  • Maintain time and attendance records of Court staff.
  • Prepares travel authorizations, mileage claims and expense reports for Court staff.
  • Creates forms necessary to streamline office functions.
  • Maintains and updates Tribal Code of Justice with corresponding postings for amendments.
  • Maintains calendars; schedules and coordinates appointments and meetings of Tribal Court Staff.
  • Maintains file and records; enters, transcribes, stores and retrieves information as requested.
  • Compose necessary correspondence, memorandums and route for signature.
  • Receives daily correspondence and routes for appropriate responses.
  • Answer phone and directs caller/visitor to appropriate staff.
  • Responds to requests for information and answers general Court questions.
  • Other tasks as assigned within the Scope of the Standing Rock Tribal Sioux Court operations and functions.
