Course Support - Rhetoric (Open to Work Study and Non-Work Study)
About The Position
OnRamps prepares students and teachers for success in the classroom and beyond by building partnerships across K12 and higher education. This role supports the strategic and tactical aspects of the OnRamps Rhetoric program, specifically for RHE 306 and RHE 309J courses. The Course Support position will manage and analyze data, prepare reports, and use analytics to predict coaching moments and growth patterns for instructors, writing assessment specialists, and students. They will contribute to development, testing, and quality control processes with OnRamps Rhetoric staff and provide sustained contributions to ongoing initiatives. The position also focuses on supporting scaled communications, scheduling, reporting, and learning management system maintenance, as well as providing just-in-time assistance with seasonal and urgent projects. The ideal candidate is highly organized, eager to learn new technologies, an effective communicator, and possesses a "start-up" attitude towards creative problem solving.
Requirements
- Current undergraduate student at the University of Texas at Austin
- 1+ year of experience working in professional environment
- Basic computer skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Punctual, reliable, responsible, analytical, and detail-oriented
- Professional conduct and attire
- Recommendation from at least one (1) professional or academic reference
- Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Nice To Haves
- Academic interest in Rhetoric, Education, Data Science and/or Visualization, or related field.
- Interest in and knowledge of local, state, and national dual enrollment and college-readiness initiatives.
- Experience designing and implementing educational research projects.
- Experience with MS Outlook, Canvas or other Learning Management System (LMS), Smartsheet or other project management platform.
- Experience with one or more of the following statistics software languages: R, SAS, SPSS, and/or Python.
- Advanced data management and analysis skills, including the ability to perform basic frequency data analysis.
Responsibilities
- Assist OnRamps Course Staff with day-to-day operational aspects of Rhetoric data analytics to support student success.
- Provide support in Canvas Learning Management system.
- Communications support.
- Summarize and analyze findings, create reports (including charts and graphs), maintain databases of statistical information, and engage in other quality control measures.
- Write and edit processes, guides, checklists, and assets according to best practices.
- Assist with seasonal and urgent projects that align to the OnRamps mission.
Benefits
- New OnRamps student employee pay is $12.00 hourly.
- Returning OnRamps student employee pay is $13.00 hourly.
- Returning 2 years or more OnRamps student employee pay is $14.00 hourly.
