About The Position

OnRamps prepares students and teachers for success in the classroom and beyond. We build partnerships across K12 and higher education to raise the bar on dynamic experiences that advance student success while lowering barriers to access and opportunity. The OnRamps Rhetoric course team seeks an undergraduate or graduate-level student assistant for up to ten hours a week to support course delivery and experience for more than 12,000 high school students statewide. OnRamps Rhetoric encompasses two different UT-designed Rhetoric courses – RHE 306 and RHE 309J – that are taken by students dually enrolled in OnRamps and a concurrent high school course. This position will primarily support documentation processing for potential academic integrity violations. Additional responsibilities may include data analysis to identify trends across our course’s student base, coordinating with the Senior Course Manager and team Coordinators to develop student and Instructor communications, providing timely, accurate, and professional responses to student extension requests submitted via an online platform, and other duties as assigned. The position also focuses on supporting scaled communications, scheduling, reporting, and learning management system maintenance as well as just-in-time assistance with seasonal and urgent projects.

Requirements

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Texas at Austin.
  • 2+ years of experience working in a professional environment.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Attention to detail and organization.
  • Reliability, consistency, and decorum in professional conduct.
  • Proficiency in online communication strategies including the use of Zoom.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional or formal experience working with high school students.
  • Academic experience in English, Rhetoric, Composition, or related field.
  • Experience using Canvas LMS or other learning management system.
  • Experience with project management software.
  • Experience with UT Library databases.
  • Experience in data processing through Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, Smartsheet, or similar platform.

Responsibilities

  • Supports documentation and processing for potential academic integrity violations.
  • Conducts data analysis to identify and organize trends relating to the student experience.
  • Assists with seasonal and urgent projects that align with the OnRamps mission, such as providing communication support between students and full-time staff and responding professionally to student extension requests in the online support system.
