About The Position

The Department of Economics is inviting applications for a course lecturer position to teach ECON 440-001 Health Economics in Fall 2026. This course examines the organization and performance of Canada's health care system from an economist's perspective, describing the system, analyzing its special features, and focusing on the role of government and financing arrangements for hospital and medical services, including current financial problems. The position is located at McGill University, an English-language university committed to equity and diversity.

Requirements

  • Doctoral level study in Economics, including completed comprehensive examinations for the PhD, or completed PhD degree in Economics.
  • Evidence of highly effective teaching ability or of superior communications skills and potential for teaching excellence.
  • Candidate's area of specialization should be as close as possible to that of the course being offered.
  • Must be authorized to work in Canada.
  • Must be willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based/located.
  • Requires English communication both verbally and in writing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a teaching assistant for a course is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Teach ECON 440-001 Health Economics (3 Credits – CAP 100) in Fall 2026.
  • Examine the organization and performance of Canada's health care system from an economist's perspective.

Benefits
