About The Position

The Department of Sociology at McGill University is inviting applications to teach the course SOCI 235 – Technology and Society in Fall 2026. This course examines the extent to which technological developments impose constraints on ways of arranging social relationships in bureaucratic organizations and in the wider society, and the compatibility of current social structures with the effective utilization of technology. Requirements

  • PhD or ABD in Sociology.
  • Successful completion of area exam in Work, Labor Markets and the Economy within the last five years.
  • Prior experience as a teaching assistant for SOCI 235.
  • Authorized to work in Canada.
  • Willing to work in the province of Quebec.
  • Proficient in English communication, both verbally and in writing.

Benefits
