About The Position

This course provides an introduction to crime prevention and criminal justice in a global context as defined by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. Students are introduced to the United Nations’ norms and standards in crime prevention and criminal justice. It will also demonstrate international applications of these principles, which may include studies of police accountability; prison reform; violence against women; and alternative forms of justice. This course curriculum was developed in partnership with the UNODC.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Criminology, Sociology, or a related discipline.
  • Work and/or research experience relating to the substantive area of global crime prevention initiatives.
  • Prior teaching experience.
  • Ability to articulate how work and academic experience enhances ability to teach the course.
  • CV (Maximum of 10 pages, with 12-point font and 2.54 cm margins).
  • Candidate Application Form (CAF - Appendix I).

Nice To Haves

  • PhD or PhD in progress.
  • Verification of highest degree (highly recommended to include with application).

Responsibilities

  • Teach UNDC102 VAB – Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice course.
  • Develop and deliver course curriculum in partnership with the UNODC.
  • Assess student performance based on provided criteria.
  • Manage a class size of up to 140 students.
  • Adhere to the Contract Teaching Faculty and Part-time Librarians Collective Agreement.
