About The Position

This course provides an introduction to policing in Canada and includes an examination of: the historical development of police services; the organization of occupational roles within policing; legal powers of the police; traditional and contemporary models of police work; and current issues in policing. These dimensions of policing will be explored through both macro-level analyses that focus on the institutional contexts of policing and microlevel analyses that focus on the experiential aspects of policing.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree
  • MA in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a cognate discipline (e.g. sociology / psychology) that is clearly and directly connected to the course content, and with a focus on crime or deviance.
  • CV (Maximum of 10 pages, with 12-point font and 2.54 cm margins).
  • Candidate Application Form (CAF - Appendix I)
  • Verification of highest degree (for external applicants)
  • Name and contact information for referees.

Nice To Haves

  • Work experience in the field is an asset.
  • Prior teaching experience is an asset.
  • PhD or ABD preferred.
  • Teaching Dossier and/or relevant supplementary documentation (Maximum of 25 pages in total, with 12-point font and 2.54 cm margins).
