Course Grader Mentor - Geoscience (Open to Work Study and Non-Work Study)
About The Position
OnRamps prepares students and teachers for success in the classroom and beyond by building partnerships across K12 and higher education. The Geoscience Course Grader Mentor supports the OnRamps Geoscience Earth, Wind, and Fire course (GEO 302E). This role involves close collaboration with the Geoscience Course Manager to oversee the grading team, mentor student graders, conduct grading calibrations, ensure timely grading and feedback on student assessments, and perform clerical tasks related to the course. The employee will also provide assistance with urgent projects. This position is open to current University of Texas at Austin undergraduate or graduate students only. It is open to both Work-Study and Non-Work Study applicants.
Requirements
- Current graduate student at The University of Texas at Austin majoring in Geoscience
- Intermediate computer skills: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Experience with Canvas LMS
- Recommendation from at least one professional or academic reference
- Punctual, reliable, responsible, Self-motivated
- Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Nice To Haves
- Interest in and knowledge of local, state, and national dual-enrollment and college-readiness initiatives
- Expert computer skills: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Experience with Learning Catalytics, MS Outlook, and/or Smartsheet
- Recommendation from more than one professional or academic reference
Responsibilities
- Maintains accuracy and consistency while grading and providing feedback on course assignments and assessments in Canvas Learning Management System.
- Facilitates grading team meetings and grading calibrations to ensure accuracy and consistency of grading across the grading team.
- Collaborates with the Geoscience Course Manager to monitor grading progress to ensure timely feedback on student work.
- Attends calibration meetings and participate in training to align feedback and deepen transferrable skills.
- Assists with seasonal and urgent projects that align to the OnRamps mission.
