About The Position

The Department of Sociology and Anthropology is hiring a Course Coordinator to provide administrative and operational support to full time and sessional faculty who teach high enrollment courses and/or who teach a high number of students across multiple courses. In this role, you will be instrumental in helping to improve instructional and communication quality, streamline administrative processes, and enhance the overall student experience. This position will be a Temporary Part Time (TPT) time-reporting position up to 24 hours per week for 16 weeks during the Fall 2026 semester. The Course Coordinator will support the effective delivery and administration of multiple undergraduate courses with the aim of improving instructional quality, streamlining administrative processes, and enhancing the student experience in high-enrolment courses.

Requirements

  • Minimum education: 1 year Community College or equivalent specialized training. Preferred areas of study: Management, Human Resources and Supervision.
  • At least 9 months and less than 12 months of relevant work experience.
  • Experience working with educational platforms such as Courselink, GradeScope, etc.
  • Experience with grading assignment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage large amounts of data entry with accuracy.
  • Knowledge of campus resources and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of student contact for large courses, ensuring timely email responses to students’ questions and concerns
  • Manage course-wide communications and announcements on behalf of the instructor.
  • Coordinate, train and support the assigned graduate teaching assistants (GTAs) for each course on behalf of the instructor.
  • Assist instructors by posting key course materials in Courselink and providing consistency of messages across multiple course sections.
  • Assist instructors with grading of assignments with the use of rubrics, answer keys, or templates provided by the instructor.
  • Support prompt entering of assignment grades into Courselink.
  • Liaise (on behalf of the course instructor) with Student Accessibility Services (SAS) and the Undergraduate Program Assistant (UPA) regarding accommodations and exams.
  • Develop consistent SOAN policies for student requests for extensions, missed classes, late submission of assignments, AI use that any/all instructors can use.
  • Manage requests from students for assignment extensions or exam deferrals, in collaboration with instructors, to ensure consistency.
  • Work with the Undergraduate Program Assistant to coordinate/schedule deferred or make-up midterms and exams.
  • Scan Grade Scope exams and/or exams written at alternate times.
  • Assist with completing course forms/paperwork on behalf of instructors (e.g. INC forms, academic misconduct form, etc.).
  • Organize exam materials and invigilate exams as needed.
