About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager, the Courier retrieves specimens, delivers supplies and laboratory reports, and provides other transportation to and from Marshall Medical Centers and other locations as needed. The role also ensures the proper operation, maintenance, and care of the transport vehicle. Requirements

• Ability and license to operate an automobile.
• Good driving record and a driving record that meets all Marshall Medical Centers insurance requirements.
• Good general condition.
• Verbal ability to communicate instructions and other information to healthcare workers.
• Numerical ability to calculate by formula.
• Form perception and visual acuity in the color spectrum to perform duties.
• Dependability.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent, such as a GED, preferred.
• The techniques are usually learned through one to two months of on-the-job training under direct supervision.

Responsibilities

• Drive the courier car and pick up specimens at Marshall Medical Centers and other locations as needed.
• Receive supply orders, gather supplies, and deliver them.
• Ensure the courier car is cleaned, washed, and serviced as needed.
• Receive incoming calls and direct them to the appropriate departments.
• Deliver mail to and pick up mail from the mail room.
• Perform clerical duties as needed, including registration, checking charges, scanning, indexing, printing results, and faxing reports.
• Maintain good relationships between laboratories and pickup and delivery sites.
• Maintain good relationships with coworkers and other departments at both Medical Centers.
