Courier (Monday-Friday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
About The Position
The Courier transports laboratory samples and materials securely and on time between collection sites and designated laboratory branches. The role is responsible for maintaining specimen integrity, accurate documentation, and service quality while complying with safety and traffic regulations. Couriers complete daily pickup schedules, deliver pickups to branches by the end of the shift, use a company vehicle and handheld electronic device, and adjust routes as needed for traffic, weather, or other unexpected conditions. The position also involves courteous communication with clients and branch staff and resolving minor pickup or delivery delays.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Strong time-management skills and punctuality.
- Attention to detail when handling and documenting samples.
- Ability to follow route instructions and adjust to unexpected conditions.
- Basic customer-service and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records using digital tools.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move sample coolers, boxes, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds using safe lifting techniques.
- Ability to safely handle and transport laboratory samples while maintaining temperature and chain-of-custody requirements.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients and laboratory staff.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, such as gloves or safety vests.
Responsibilities
- Load all necessary supplies for daily pickups.
- Complete the daily pickup schedule in a timely manner.
- Deliver all daily pickups to branches at the end of the shift.
- Handle laboratory samples safely and efficiently.
- Safely operate a company vehicle and obey all traffic laws.
- Use a handheld electronic device to manage daily pickups and confirm pickups and deliveries.
- Evaluate traffic patterns, alternative routes, and weather conditions as needed.
- Provide professional and courteous service when interacting with clients and branch staff.
- Identify and resolve minor issues related to pickup or delivery delays.
