About The Position

The County Director of Community Relations & Fundraising is responsible for ensuring the county-wide fundraising goal is met for the fiscal year, as determined by the annual operating budget. This role involves planning, coaching, and monitoring team results, as well as overseeing and managing the daily operations and staff of the county fundraising team. The Director plans, develops, and manages individual, major, and corporate gifts within the county fundraising team. Additionally, the position oversees and/or coordinates funding from corporate and community relations activities and individuals within the county, and provides oversight and/or coordination and preparation of proposals for all appropriate fundraising requests for The Salvation Army. The role requires seeking out new funding opportunities and working with the Senior Director and team to develop comprehensive development plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, marketing, communication, or related field
  • Seven plus years in aggressive fundraising environment personally raising $1 million plus in gifts
  • Previous corporate fundraising and major gifts experience
  • Three years supervisory experience
  • Prior active experience in Interchange or relevant donor software and donor databases
  • Valid State Driver’s License
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements
  • Ability to read, write and communicate the English language effectively
  • Ability to speak before small and large groups of people
  • Ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle or personal vehicle to travel to various locations in order to participate in public meetings, conferences, etc.
  • Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines and time constraints
  • Ability and willingness to conduct all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism and donor care

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the county-wide fundraising goal is met for the fiscal year as determined by the annual operating budget
  • Plan, coach and monitor team results
  • Oversee and manage the daily operations and staff of the county fundraising team
  • Plan, develop, and manage the individual, major and corporate gifts within the county fundraising team
  • Oversee and/or coordinate funding from corporate and community relations activities and individuals within the county
  • Provide oversight and/or coordination and preparation of proposals for all requests for fund raising appropriate to The Salvation Army
  • Seek out new funding opportunities for Army programs around the county
  • Work directly with the Senior Director and team to develop comprehensive development plans that include the cultivation of major gift resources, individual gift resources, multi-year commitment funds, corporate and community fundraising and other strategic support in order to generate revenue to support the County
  • Organize and facilitate major gifts fund raising, corporate and community fundraising by board and council membership
  • Build relationships with high-level volunteers and organizations to develop, manage and execute revenue and in-kind generating programs for corporations, small businesses, civic, faith-based, educational and other organizations throughout the county
  • Oversee the collaboration between the Volunteer and Fundraising teams to create opportunities for corporate participation with the county
  • Conduct all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles
  • Conduct all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism and donor care
