About The Position

As a County Caseworker 1 with the Department of Human Services, you will help protect children and support families who need guidance. This position allows you to build connections with community partners while working toward positive outcomes. You will gain valuable experience through a mix of challenging and rewarding situations. This position supports the safety and well being of children and families by providing casework services and connecting them to important resources. The role involves managing cases, conducting investigations and working closely with community partners to ensure compliance with child welfare regulations.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions
  • Satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Work with families and children experiencing abuse or neglect and guide them to appropriate services
  • Investigate reports of child abuse and gather information to support regulatory compliance
  • Coordinate with local organizations to link families to helpful resources
  • Interact with clients in challenging situations and provide direction that promotes child well being
  • Participate in scheduled on call rotation and handle tasks during non traditional hours
