About The Position

The Department of Human Services is seeking a County Caseworker 1 who wants to help children and families thrive. Requirements

• Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences
• A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions
• Possess a valid driver’s license which is not under suspension
• Able to perform essential job functions
• Satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance

Nice To Haves

• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Responsibilities

• Implement action plans on new intake calls and conduct follow up on existing cases
• Complete CPS investigations and review case details to support child safety
• Coordinate services that help stabilize families and prevent out of home placement
• Track family progress toward goals and adjust supports as needed
• Assist children in placement by supporting adoption or other permanent outcomes when reunification is not possible
