About The Position

As a County Caseworker 1 with Delaware County Children & Youth Services, you will have the chance to support families during important moments in their lives. This role invites you to make meaningful connections while helping children stay safe and supported. Your work will bring stability and guidance to families who need it most. This position allows you to grow your skills while making a real impact in the community. This position focuses on providing direct service to families in need through assessments, guidance, and support. The work centers on helping children and caregivers maintain safety and stability in their daily lives.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
  • Possess a valid driver's license which is not under suspension
  • Pass a background investigation
  • Satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments and investigations for families
  • Coordinate services and maintain documentation for each case
  • Assist with placing children into safe and supportive foster homes
  • Provide counseling and guidance to children and caregivers
  • Carry out most responsibilities through home and community visits
