About The Position

This is a supervisory and administrative position within Wayne County Children & Youth Services. This employee is responsible, under the direction of the Children & Youth Assistant Director, for the supervision of the Agency's Social Service Aide Supervisor and On-Going Protective Services Casework Supervisors. In this capacity, the employee provides guidance to assigned Supervisors and oversight of work including sound decision making, ensuring deadlines are met, and regulations/laws are adhered to. This employee conducts formal supervision with supervisees no less than monthly and maintains records of those supervisory reviews. Employee approves leave, comp time requests, and timesheets. Also completes, signs and ensures timely compliance of performance evaluations for subordinates. Additional duties: Perform assigned administrative on-call coverage and responsibilities Assist C&Y Administrator in the development of the Agency's Annual Needs Based Plan and Budget, providing budget trends and identifying needs. Assist in the development and maintenance of Agency's policy and procedure manual On-Going and SSA Casework Supervisors present problems or unusual cases to this employee for discussion and/or solutions. Employee decides when problems or unusual cases are taken to the C&Y Assistant Director, Administrator and/or Agency Solicitor for review Review on-going case records checking for compliance with regulations and quality of the service delivery system in Wayne County Adhere to the Agency's confidentiality policy at all times, in and out of the office Prepare correspondence, reports, court and legal documents or other materials as needed Attend meetings, conferences, etc. as required and conduct special projects as assigned by C&Y Assistant Director and/or Administrator

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in public or social work.
  • One year of experience in a public welfare program.
  • One year of supervisory experience.
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Pass a background investigation.
  • Submit to and pass a drug screening (conditional offer).
  • Satisfactory criminal history reports including PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance (conditional offer).
  • Information to support eligibility must be provided on the application.
  • Attach a copy of college transcripts if claiming education.

Responsibilities

  • Supervision of the Agency's Social Service Aide Supervisor and On-Going Protective Services Casework Supervisors.

  • Handle problems or unusual cases presented by On-Going and SSA Casework Supervisors, deciding when to escalate to C&Y Assistant Director, Administrator and/or Agency Solicitor.
  • Review on-going case records checking for compliance with regulations and quality of the service delivery system.
  • Adhere to the Agency's confidentiality policy at all times.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, court and legal documents or other materials as needed.
  • Attend meetings, conferences, etc. as required.
  • Conduct special projects as assigned by C&Y Assistant Director and/or Administrator.
