Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license which is not under suspension.
  • Able to perform essential job functions.
  • Satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake actions, follow-up visits, and reviews of existing cases
  • Carry out child protective services investigations to ensure safety
  • Connect families with needed providers and resources
  • Guide families in strengthening and stabilizing the home environment
  • Review family progress to support reunification or permanency planning
  • Assist in securing long-term placements such as adoption or Subsidized Permanent Legal Custodianship (SPLC) when reunification is not possible
