About The Position

This position focuses on helping individuals, families, and/or groups (needy, aged, people with disabilities, institutionalized or dependent adults and children) adjust to social, economic, mental, and physical challenges. The work involves gathering information, guiding clients through available services, and keeping organized records. As a County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties: Client Interviews: Interview clients to collect detailed social histories and assess their needs Program Guidance: Explain agency programs and provide clear information about available supports Eligibility Review: Determine and verify client eligibility for services and resources Service Referrals: Coordinate referral services and advocate for clients to access assistance Action Planning: Develop and carry out social action plans tailored to client needs Record Management: Maintain organized records and prepare reports using a computer system.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license which is not under suspension.
  • Pass a background investigation.
  • Satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
