About The Position

This position focuses on supporting children and families who may be facing difficult or unsafe situations. You help guide children toward greater stability and emotional well-being. As a County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties: Safety Checks: Meet with children, caregivers, and others to determine if the child is safe Abuse Reports: Receive and assess reports of suspected abuse or neglect within the county Support Planning: Recommend medical evaluation when injuries are present and help guide next steps Family Guidance: Encourage positive growth and emotional progress for children and their families Record Keeping: Maintain accurate documentation and records of all client interactions

Requirements

  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions
  • Conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening
  • Must submit and approve satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance

  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
