The Capper Production Worker helps bring countertops to life by applying laminate end caps with precision and care. This hands-on role involves working with different countertop sizes, trimming edges, and using specialized tools to ensure a clean, high-quality finish. You’ll play a key part in maintaining production standards while focusing on safety, accuracy, and consistency. Requirements

  • Ability to accurately read tape measures and production paperwork.
  • Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, ear protection and closed toed shoes.
  • Understand and follow all safety policies and procedures to prevent injury.
  • Ability to understand material specifications and manufacturing processes
  • Competency in reading and interpreting work orders
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow quality control guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Review and follow daily work schedule.
  • Retrieve and position laminated countertops onto work tables using pneumatic lifts.
  • Transport built-up countertops (0–45” wide, up to 12’ long, weighing up to 100 lbs) to the designated work area. Larger tops require team lifting to ensure safety.
  • Inspect each piece for quality control: verify correct core size and length, check laminate for defects, and confirm color accuracy.
  • Match and prepare the correct end cap laminate, heating it in designated ovens until glue is softened.
  • Remove laminate from oven and apply to countertop edge using a steel roller, employing a side-to-side motion with body pressure for 2–3 minutes or until the cap cools and adheres.
  • Apply lubricant to the top, trim excess laminate with hand routers, and smooth edges with hand files. (electric or air driven)
  • Clean the surface and sand the bottom using a sanding block or DA sander.
  • Transfer completed tops to the next department for cleaning.
  • Maintain consistent productivity without reliance on a production line.
  • Cross-train in at least one additional work area.
  • Assist with training new employees on laminate application and quality control procedures.
  • Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Assist in inventory management by reporting low stock of materials or tools.
  • Ensure the workspace is organized, clean, and free of hazards.
  • Follow all company policies related to safety, attendance, and performance.
  • Participate in team meetings and provide feedback on production processes to improve efficiency.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
