About The Position

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) is seeking a Counter Server/Cashier to work in the Cafeteria at the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Headquarters, located in Washington, DC. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters union is the largest and diverse union in the country with over 1.3 million members. For over a century, the Teamsters union has been standing up for working people. The Teamsters represent workers in virtually every occupation imaginable – from freight drivers and warehouse workers to airline pilots to zookeepers, and nearly everything in between. Under the general supervision of the Executive Chef and Assistant Chef, performs a variety of duties related to setting up and serving of employee meals.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and write required.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of thirty pounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment, i.e., meat slicers, grinders, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Six months to one-year previous experience in restaurant or institutional food service environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assembles foods and utensils necessary for serving lunch meals to staff.
  • Prepares and delivers coffee and coffee supply trays for special meetings, as need arises.
  • Delivers coffee to assigned offices within the building.
  • Assists with preparation of salads, entree, vegetables, etc., as needed.
  • Serves various types of food from serving counter during staff lunch period.
  • Participates in setting up, cleaning and breaking down of serving counter for daily lunch period.
  • Serves as replacement for cashier.
  • Performs duties of Bus person, as need arises.
  • Sells meals during breakfast and lunch hours.
  • Adheres to all organization and department policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as related to the position and assigned by the Head Chef or Cafeteria Supervisor.
