About The Position

The Center for Development and Disability (CDD) is seeking a Counselor/Social Worker to provide direct services as part of the FOCUS Program within the Early Childhood Home and Family Services (ECHFS) Division. This role will serve families with children from birth to five years old who have or are at risk of developmental delays, including those who have experienced child abuse, neglect, and/or attachment disruptions. Services are delivered using a family-centered, developmentally and relationally informed approach. The Counselor/Social Worker will provide home- and community-based evaluation, intervention, and treatment services, and/or social work support services, depending on experience and licensure. The ECHFS Division offers a continuum of early childhood home visiting, early intervention, and clinical evaluation and treatment services. The FOCUS Program specifically provides integrated early intervention and family medical services. While this position is for the FOCUS Program, the Counselor/Social Worker may be assigned to any of these services, providing evaluation, service coordination, intervention, treatment, and/or community-based support within the ECHFS Division. The role requires effective collaboration with internal and community partners, knowledge of community resources, understanding of state and federal reporting requirements, and strong organizational skills to meet program documentation and billing requirements.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or directly related field.
  • At least 6 months of directly related experience (including internship and/or practicum).
  • NM licensure as LPCC, LPC, LMHC, LMSW, LCSW, or equivalent level, OR licensed out of state and eligible for NM licensure.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • May be subject to credentialing process; must maintain credentialed status, if applicable.
  • Must maintain certification status.
  • Employees providing services or working in patient care or clinical areas must comply with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • Travel required in Bernalillo, Sandoval, and Valencia counties using personal vehicle.
  • Requires a background check and fingerprinting.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of demonstrated experience providing services to women prenatally and/or children birth to five and their families.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child development and early childhood/infant mental health.
  • Experience providing clinical services and/or community support and/or service coordination/case management within an early intervention program or as a clinician in a clinical setting serving young children and families.
  • Experience providing clinical evaluation and/or developmental assessment, including development of a treatment plan: goal planning, monitoring progress toward meeting goals, and linking families to community resources.
  • One or more years’ experience providing clinical and/or case management in area of substance abuse and/or behavioral/mental health.
  • Home visiting experience including home visiting in high-risk neighborhoods.
