COUNSELOR AIDE: Part-Time
About The Position
This is a part-time opportunity in the behavioral healthcare field, specifically within our chemical dependency unit. The role involves providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging from adolescent through geriatrics. The Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, working under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Roxbury Treatment Center, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc., has been providing services for 40 years to those struggling with behavioral health and substance use issues. Our facility offers acute psychiatric, detoxification, and rehabilitation services for adults, as well as an adolescent inpatient psychiatric program. We also operate two substance use disorder outpatient offices. Our mission is to deliver high-quality behavioral health services with a focus on service excellence, respect, ethical standards, integrity, compassion, and teamwork.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid Driver's License with safe driving record
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree in a psychology-related field is highly preferred
Responsibilities
- Monitors unit milieu and helps to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients
- Leads activity groups for patients according to the program schedule
- Conducts patient observation rounds throughout the shift to ensure safety
- Works collaboratively with unit nursing staff on patient care activities
- Responds to patient crisis events accordingly using de-escalation techniques.
