About The Position

The Rover is a role designed to support our community inclusion programs. This Permanent Full-Time position is suitable for candidates who would thrive on the challenge of supporting individuals in a variety of programs across a specific region within the Lower Mainland. The specific regions listed below: North Vancouver, Vancouver, Burnaby, Tri-cities, Delta, Surrey, New Westminster, Langley. Your role as a support worker will be providing support and actively engaging a supported individual to live a fulfilling and increasingly independent life. You are a motivated and outgoing person with a passion for person-centered supports. This means you could be helping an individual to discover more of their community, learn new life-skills, find employment and more. You are comfortable working in any location and providing support to a variety of individuals. While the assignments will be short term in duration, it is expected that the Rover will provide a high quality of support.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years experience supporting individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities.
  • Class 4 driver’s license or a commitment to obtain one within 6 months.
  • Access to a vehicle.
  • Travel within the region will be required.
  • First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Clear criminal record (paid by CLS)
  • Clean driver’s abstract

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with all types of support e.g. Staffed Homes, Individualized Support, Day Programs.
  • Show an understanding of the person-centered and active support approach.
  • Prior paid or volunteer experience
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training
  • Mandt System® Training
  • Knowledge of Person Centered Active Supports

Responsibilities

  • Providing individuals support with various life goals.
  • Home support duties (including, but not limited to personal care, bathing, bathroom support, meal preparation and light housekeeping)
  • Community outings (including, but not limited to volunteering, paid employment, and leisure activities).
  • Maintaining records of daily activities and goal progression.
  • Providing personal care will be required.
