About The Position

Navera Community Connections is seeking a compassionate and client-centered Counsellor to join our supportive counselling team to support individuals, couples, children, youth, and families through clinical therapy and community collaboration. This is a permanent part-time employee position with benefits; however, we would consider an independent contractor agreement for the right candidate. ABOUT NAVERA: Navera is a nonprofit organization that enriches the lives of the people that we serve by navigating challenges and creating possibilities. We do this through early learning centres, counselling and mental health services, and a range of community programs. We are located in Saskatoon and provide services in Saskatoon and surrounding area. Position: Counsellor Location: Navera office and other designated counselling sites Schedule availability: 4 days/week, with 1 evening, during Navera hours of operation Start: Approximate start date of June 22, 2026 Application Deadline: May 22, 2026

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, counselling psychology, or related discipline preferred.
  • Certification is required with an accredited third-party professional association, such as Registered Social Worker (RSW), Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC), R.Psych., etc.
  • Clinical experience providing counselling to a diverse range of clients, including adults, children, youth, families, and caregivers (minimum 2 years clinical experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience counselling individuals from diverse and historically marginalize communities, including Indigenous, 2SLGBTQI+ and newcomers.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict‑resolution skills.
  • Cultural humility and inclusive practice; ability to work with diverse identities and lived experiences.
  • Excellent organizational, time‑management, and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and electronic client record systems.
  • High ethical standards, professional boundaries, and commitment to confidentiality and continuous learning.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Acceptable results from a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check is required for this role.

Nice To Haves

  • Critical Incident Debriefing training would be an asset.
  • Certification in Play Therapy would be an asset.
  • Couples counselling experience is an asset.
  • Experience facilitating therapeutic groups is an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience in the following areas would be an asset: Parent support and education, Substance use and harm reduction, Neurodiversity, Child and Family systems.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver evidence-based, trauma-informed counselling to a diverse caseload of clients including individuals, couples, children, youth, and families.
  • Provide appropriate client assessments, crisis interventions, and safety plans.
  • Proper case management is required, including keeping timely and confidential client notes, evaluation forms, and other documentation and reporting in accordance with ethical and organizational standards.
  • Manage an active calendar, including client follow-ups, re-booking, and appropriate file closures.
  • Communicate professionally with clients and collaborate with colleagues.
  • May plan and facilitate therapeutic groups, workshops, presentations, and critical incident debriefing.
  • Engage in ongoing supervision, team meetings, and professional development to maintain strong clinical practice.
  • Work collaboratively across the organization and with external partners to advance Navera’s mission, shared initiatives, and create meaningful community impact.
