About The Position
This position is located at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon/Eisenhower, Georgia. Requirements
- US Citizens
- Degree: Two full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology.
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Performing professional counseling and addiction medicine treatment in support of patients with an alcohol and substance abuse diagnosis; 2) Applying rehabilitation principles to conduct comprehensive substance use evaluations; and 3) Providing professional counseling to substance abuse patients.
- Possess a current, active, valid, unrestricted counseling/psychologist license from a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction.
Responsibilities
- Use a broad range of professional knowledge of advanced concepts, principles, procedures, and practices relevant to the substance abuse program and addiction medicine outpatient program to conduct comprehensive substance abuse treatment of patients.
- Conduct evaluations of Soldiers, family members, retirees, and eligible Federal civilian employees referred for consultation from the individual, family members, commanding officers, supervisors, agents of the courts, and medical personnel.
- Apply complex rehabilitation principles to conduct comprehensive substance use evaluations.
- Provide individual, group, and family psychotherapy.
- Make clinical assessments to inform treatment decision-making.
- Document case findings, diagnoses, and recommendations.
- Counsel patients on primary and secondary illnesses.
