About The Position

The Costume Support position at Busch Gardens supports show performers and costume operations. The role presets costumes according to cast schedules, assists performers before and after shows, dresses performers, repairs and maintains costumes and accessories, and handles costume laundry. It also includes daily venue procedures, paperwork, and, in some cases, stagehand duties during shows. This seasonal position requires wardrobe assistance experience and flexibility to work across locations and shifts based on business needs.

Requirements

• At least 18 years old.
• Previous experience with sewing and clothing alterations required.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
• Good communication, organizational, and follow-up skills when working with Stage Managers and Supervisors.
• Ability to work flexible hours based on business needs, including opening, mid, and closing shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to work flexibly across locations based on business needs and career development opportunities.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and stay on task throughout the day.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and/or carry up to 50 lbs. frequently.
• Ability to perform extensive walking, frequent standing, and repeated climbing or ascending heights, as well as kneeling, squatting, bending, overhead reaching, grasping, and fine hand-manipulation tasks.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and tolerate possible exposure to fumes, dust, odors, and extreme cold or heat temperatures.
• Ability to perform cleaning duties, including using cleaning chemicals.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Prior work experience with costumes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Preset a large inventory of costumes daily based on cast schedules.
• Assist show performers with costumes before and after shows.
• Dress performers.
• Perform light sewing repairs and maintain costumes and accessories.
• Carry out simple hand-grasping and fine-manipulation tasks, including cabling mechanical costumes and repairing headgear.
• Hand-wash and machine-wash a large volume of costumes daily.
• Receive, sort, and put away laundry and costumes.
• Complete daily, weekly, and monthly paperwork as needed.
• Perform daily venue procedures, including cleaning, organization, and inventory.
• In some cases, perform stagehand duties during shows.
• Perform special assignments as requested.
