About The Position

Responsible for show preparation, dressing performers, presetting costumes, and maintaining daily costume procedures for shows, projects, or events. This role ensures performer safety by securing all safety mechanisms on costume pieces and verifying that all audio components are connected and functional.

Requirements

Associate’s degree or equivalent or technical school preferred.
2+ years or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to perform basic costume repairs required.
Prior costume dressing/ theatrical wardrobe experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

Valid Florida Driver’s License preferred.

Responsibilities

Dress performers as required by show/project/event.
Assist during the show with costume troubleshooting and changes.
Maintain preparation routines between shows.
Perform general repairs on costumes and monitor quality, escalating for more detailed repairs when necessary.
Anticipate costume needs and initiate timely solutions.
Ensure all straps, clasps, and buttons are secure and in good working order.
Ensure performer is safely strapped/snapped into costume pieces.
Verify that all costume pieces are intact and safe for performer use.
Ensure all audio components are connected and in good working order.
Clean and maintain all costume pieces through hand washing, machine washing, spot cleaning, and dry cleaning.
Monitor costume inventory for wear and tear and request replacements as needed.
Ensure safety straps and/or restraints are in good working order before, during, and after washing.
Report any safety integrity issues to leadership and CT’s promptly.
Follow pre-show set up procedures and preset costumes daily by grouping all costume pieces for each performer.
Issue costumes to performers.
Deliver and pick-up costumes to/from various locations.
Assist the costuming team in fitting new performers.
Assist in documentation and note completion.
Monitor dry cleaning and repair orders, checking them upon return from vendors and notifying management of discrepancies.
Observe shows/projects/events for costume appearance notes and relay observations to management.
Assist with set up of costumes for new characters or shows/projects/events.
Assist with special event preparation and tear down of costumes.
Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of the costuming work area.
Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
