The Project & Cost Analyst I is an entry-level role responsible for supporting the accuracy and alignment of core accounting and financial data across enterprise applications, with Salesforce as the primary digital work environment. The analyst assists in keeping key financial records—such as AFEs, GL Accounts, Purchase Orders, and Cost Centers—synchronized between Salesforce and connected systems. A central function of this role is writing and maintaining SQL scripts and views to support data reporting, and helping build dashboards that make financial and project data accessible to business users. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who is comfortable working with data and has a foundational understanding of accounting and finance concepts. The Project and Cost Analyst I responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Information Systems, Business Analytics, Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. Equivalent work experience or demonstrated hands-on skills will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 0–2 years of experience in a data, finance, or systems-related role; internship or academic project experience welcome.
  • Demonstrated ability to write SQL queries to retrieve and organize data (required).
  • Solid understanding of SQL and comfort navigating relational data structures.
  • Basic familiarity with accounting and finance terminology (GL accounts, cost centers, purchase orders, etc.).
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to data accuracy.
  • Willing to learn new systems and processes in a structured environment.
  • Clear communicator who can work effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with enterprise or business applications such as Salesforce, ERP systems, or similar platforms is a plus
  • Exposure to reporting or BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or Salesforce dashboards) is a plus.
  • Coursework or experience in data analytics, database management, or business intelligence
  • Exposure to Salesforce or ERP platforms in an academic or professional setting
  • Familiarity with procure-to-pay or plan-to-pay business processes

Responsibilities

  • Support the upkeep of key accounting records across enterprise systems, including: Authorization for Expenditures (AFEs) General Ledger (GL) Accounts Purchase Orders (POs) Cost Centers
  • Flag and help resolve data discrepancies between Salesforce and integrated applications, escalating issues when needed.
  • Write and maintain SQL queries and views to extract and organize financial and project data from enterprise databases
  • Support the development of new scripts as reporting needs evolve
  • Help document query logic and data sources for team reference
  • Assist in building and maintaining dashboards and data visualizations that display project cost and financial data
  • Make updates to existing reports and insights as business requirements change
  • Work with team members to understand what data end users need and help surface it effectively
  • Assist with project setup and maintenance tasks to ensure financial attributes are properly configured in Salesforce
  • Help business users with questions related to the Plan-to-Pay process, including PO coding, approvals, and data entry
  • Escalate unresolved issues to senior team members and follow up to ensure resolution
