About The Position

The Cost Accountant is responsible for analyzing, monitoring, and reporting on manufacturing costs to support financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and informed decision-making. This role partners closely with Finance, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Operations to ensure product costing integrity, inventory accuracy, and variance analysis across the business.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum 3–5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, V-lookups, data analysis)
Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across departments

Working toward or completion of a CPA designation is considered an asset

Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain accurate product costing, including standard and actual costs
Analyze manufacturing variances (labour, material, overhead) and investigate root causes
Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes related to inventory and cost of goods sold
Maintain Bills of Materials and routings to ensure costing accuracy
Prepare inventory reconciliations, cycle count analysis, and inventory valuation reporting
Support budgeting, forecasting, and annual standard cost roll processes
Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements
Assist with capital expenditure analysis and post-implementation reviews
Support internal and external audits by providing required schedules and documentation
Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards
