About The Position

The Cost Accountant is a key member of the Supply Chain Finance organization responsible for supporting inventory accounting, cost accounting, manufacturing finance, forecasting, compliance, and operational reporting across Eisai's manufacturing and supply chain network. This role partners closely with Manufacturing Operations, Supply Planning, Quality, Technical Operations, Corporate Accounting, Tax, Customs Compliance, and external manufacturing partners to ensure accurate inventory valuation, product costing, financial reporting, and internal controls. The position will play a critical role in supporting Eisai's growing biologics and established products portfolios, including newly launched products, while helping drive process improvements, reporting automation, and enhanced business insights through SAP, TM1, Microsoft Copilot, and other digital tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field with 2-3 years of relevant Accounting experience, in a manufacturing industry set up, preferably in Pharm and/or Life Sciences.
  • Experience with accounting and financial reporting, preferred.
  • Strong Knowledge of accounting, finance, IFRS and consolidations.
  • Experience presenting in team meetings preferred.
  • Experience using advanced spreadsheets, and web-based accounting & financial reporting applications.

  • Professional certification/License (e.g., CPA), preferred or a combination of equivalent education and work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support standard cost development, maintenance, annual updates, and periodic true-ups.
  • Analyze production, purchase price, and inventory variances.
  • Monitor inventory balances and identify risks related to excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Maintain inventory tracking files and manufacturing cost documentation.
  • Support monthly close activities related to inventory, manufacturing, and supply chain accounting.
  • Assist with inventory valuation activities support Marketed Product Alliance reporting and financial planning.
  • Prepare recurring cost accounting reports and financial analysis.
  • Support budget, forecast, long-range planning, and latest estimate processes.
  • Assist in development and maintenance of inventory, manufacturing, and cost reporting and cash flow models.
  • Support preparation of Marketed Product Alliance COG Submission and related analyses.
  • Analyze operational performance and identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Assist with Raleigh site spending analysis and departmental reporting.
  • Maintain strong financial controls for inventory and cost accounting processes.
  • Support quarterly reviews and annual audit activities.
  • Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining audit-ready inventory and cost accounting files.
  • Support annual physical inventory planning, execution, and reconciliation activities.
  • Assist with Customs valuation reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Support Tax, Corporate Accounting, and external reporting requests related to inventory and manufacturing costs.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, SOX controls, and records retention requirements.
  • Support a Marketed Product Drug Substance cost accounting activities.
  • Assist with standard costing, inventory valuation, and manufacturing variance reporting.
  • Assist with qualification projects, supply chain changes, and manufacturing scale-up initiatives.
  • Participate in cost reduction and profitability improvement analysis.
  • Maintain costing and reporting documentation supporting Alliance reporting requirements.
  • Utilize SAP, TM1, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, Monday.com, Ariba and Microsoft Copilot to improve financial reporting and operational efficiency.
  • Support enhancement of reporting processes within TM1.
  • Develop and automate recurring reports and reconciliations.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual activities and improve close efficiency.
  • Contribute to AI-enabled process improvements across the Finance organization.
  • Develop strong relationships with Supply Planning, Quality, Technical Operations, Procurement, Tax, Treasury, Corporate Accounting and Site Leadership.
  • Support cost center owners with spending analysis and reporting.
  • Provide timely financial support to business partners.
  • Help communicate financial information to non-finance stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Support a ONE TEAM culture across Raleigh, Nutley, Baltimore, Exton and global partners.
