About The Position

The Cost Accounting Manager oversees all cost accounting activities for two manufacturing plants and serves as a key financial business partner to Operations leadership. This role is responsible for standard costing, variance analysis, inventory valuation, and driving cost visibility and margin improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of progressive manufacturing cost accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated ownership of standard costing and variance analysis in a plant environment
  • Proven ability to influence and challenge Operations leadership constructively
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, labor models, and overhead structures
  • ERP experience required (SAP preferred; Oracle or similar acceptable)
  • Advanced Excel and analytical skills

  • Food industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing all financial aspects of a manufacturing plant, including budgeting, financial reporting, cost accounting, and internal controls.
  • Participates in month-end and year-end closing for assigned areas.
  • Participates in preparation of annual budget and periodic forecasts.
  • Helps support Operations through partnering and preparation of timely detailed analytical reports regarding costs, spend and variances. Analyzes manufacturing operations, equipment availability and utilization and labor operations to ensure efficiency.
  • Performs all activities of cost accounting function. Responsible for all cost accounting arenas including standard cost roll, multi-level bills of materials, direct and indirect labor, overhead rates and absorption, product cost development.
  • Performs various general accounting activities, including but not limited to journal entries and account reconciliations for assigned areas.
  • Assists in identifying opportunities to improve profitability of the company through development and generation of appropriate customer, product and cost reporting, and through thorough understanding of the business and its processes.
  • Helps guide financial decisions by participating in establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Assists in overseeing and valuation of annual physical inventory.
  • Participates in monitoring and confirming financial condition by participating in audits, providing information to external auditors.
